Osun Election: INEC Collates Last Batch of Results

Governor Adeleke secures Osogbo and Iwo

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) resumed the official collation of results at the state collation centre in Osogbo on Sunday morning, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke holding an early lead across several local government areas.

Tripod Times reports that the Returning Officer, Professor Joshua Ogunwale (Vice Chancellor of FUOYE), while announcing the results from the first batch of Local Government Areas (LGAs), there were strong numbers for the frontrunners:

Governor Ademola Adeleke has secured decisive victories in major urban and population hubs, winning Osogbo LGA and Iwo LGA with wide margins.

Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has put up a fierce fight, officially claiming Obokun LGA and showing massive dominance at former Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s polling unit in Ilesa.

Highlighting strict enforcement, INEC has officially cancelled results in specific polling units within Ife Central due to recorded irregularities.

As at the time of filing this result, latest checks on the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV), over 87.48% of the total results (3,292 out of 3,763 polling units) have been successfully uploaded. Live trackers from Dataphyte’s Election Dashboard show that voter participation increased compared to the previous cycle, with more than 1.1 million votes already captured in the electronic pipeline.

The central collation center in Osogbo temporarily went on a brief recess early Sunday morning after processing the first 17 LGAs but fully reconvened to announce the final batch of results.

Though the Independent National Electoral Commission had said 2,339,233 residents were registered to vote and the race featured 15 political parties, the contest had been seen by observers as fierce among the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji of the APC, and Najeem Salaam of the ADC.

Details on results soon.
