OSOGBO — The Osun State Police Command has issued a stern, uncompromising warning to rival cult groups planning a coordinated protest across the state, ordering them to abort their plans immediately or face the full wrath of the law.
Information gathered by the command’s secret service operatives revealed that a notorious, faceless group had finalized arrangements to stage a public demonstration under the guise of an anniversary celebration on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
In an official security alert released early this morning, the newly deployed State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Umar Abba, declared that the command will not tolerate any unlawful assembly capable of breaching public peace.
Tactical teams, including the Anti-Cultism Unit and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), have been heavily deployed to strategic locations across Osogbo, Ile-Ife, and Ede. CP Abba emphasized that any individual or group found participating in the illegal assembly will be aggressively hunted down, arrested, and treated as a major threat to national security.
“Our intelligence channels have exposed the sinister plot by these unlawful societies to disrupt the relative peace being enjoyed by the good people of Osun State,” the statement read.
“Let this serve as a final, direct warning to the leaders and sponsors of these cult groups: jettison your illegal plans immediately. Parents and guardians are strongly urged to warn their children and wards, as the command is fully prepared to execute a zero-tolerance policy against any form of criminality today.”
Meanwhile, the command has assured law-abiding citizens to go about their normal socio-economic activities without any fear of intimidation or panic.
Residents have been enjoined to remain highly vigilant and promptly report any suspicious gatherings or unusual movements in their neighborhoods to the nearest police station.
Hotel owners and managers of recreational centers across the state have also been strictly cautioned against hosting any unauthorized gatherings, with the police promising severe legal sanctions for any facility found aiding cult operations.
