Police Crack down on Fake Drug Warehouses in Lagos, Arrest two

Lagos Police have raided two fake-drug repackaging warehouses and arrested two suspects in a cross-border syndicate, Commissioner Fatai Tijani told reporters Monday in Ijora Olopa.

Police nabbed Eze Okwudilichukwu, 52, and Chukwudi Mba, 42, during a targeted raid at an Otto Causeway warehouse, where the pair were repackaging adulterated drugs bound for various parts of Nigeria.

Recovered items included hundreds of cartons and bags of adulterated drugs like Omeprazole, Viagra, Ampiclox, Septrin, and Piriton, plus over 300 empty packs for repackaging. The commissioner of police added that the syndicate had been active for more than two years.

He added that detectives uncovered evidence suggesting that the products were supplied to different parts of Nigeria, while large consignments were also destined for Lomé, Togo, indicating the existence of a transnational distribution network.

The commissioner of police applauded the team’s tactical, evidence-driven execution and further called on citizens to volunteer intelligence regarding the peddling of falsified medicines and other unlawful enterprises.
