Female Motorist Died In Lagos Road Crash

A female driver died in a solo accident at Mongoro, heading toward Ile-Zik, Lagos state after she allegedly lost control of her car and hit a roadside building, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.

‎LASTMA’s spokesperson, Adebayo Taofiq, shared the details in a statement on Sunday. He said early investigations showed the deceased was behind the wheel of a Toyota Sienna with plate number LND 162 HB when the crash happened.

‎Taofiq explained that the driver, who was alone in the vehicle, lost control. The car then left the road and crashed into a building.

‎According to LASTMA, “The ferocity of the impact proved catastrophic, resulting in her instantaneous death.”

‎He added that LASTMA officials on routine patrol in the area got to the scene quickly. They sealed off that part of the road to stop more accidents and to help traffic move.

‎He also said the crash caused a brief traffic disruption, but the quick action of the officers restored normal vehicle movement shortly after.

‎The General Manager of LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, reacted to the incident. He called the crash a painful reminder of the risks that come with speeding and reckless driving.

‎He said, “Every journey must be undertaken with prudence, patience, and an unwavering commitment to established traffic regulations. No destination is worth the ultimate sacrifice of human life.

‎“Excessive speed remains one of the foremost causes of fatal road traffic crashes, and motorists must, at all times, exercise the highest degree of caution, restraint, and responsibility while behind the wheel.”

‎He also advised motorists to make sure their vehicles are in good mechanical condition before any trip. He stressed that any sign of a fault should be fixed before driving.

‎The agency sent its condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed they have the strength to cope with the loss.
