FAAN to Ditch Physical IDs for Facial Scanning at Domestic Terminals.

Domestic flyers can now skip presenting physical IDs, thanks to FAAN’s newly unveiled V-Pass facial recognition system for identity verification.

Tripod Times reports that travelers only need to register once, according to FAAN. After that, they can just look into facial recognition scanners at automated gates to confirm their identity at domestic airports.

According to Agunbiade, the initiative delivers improved security through more robust identity verification, alongside operational gains like shorter queues and faster passenger processing.

FAAN has confirmed that the V‑Pass platform incorporates comprehensive data protection safeguards and adheres strictly to the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation.

The authority, however, has yet to divulge a specific rollout date for the facial recognition system across domestic airports, nor has it indicated when the passenger enrolment phase will be initiated.
