OWODE-EGBA— In a significant move toward scaling up economic development at the grassroots level, the Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina ‘Lanre Ogunsola, has hosted a high-powered delegation of Chinese investors looking to establish a multi-million dollar solar and aluminium factory within the local government area.
Tripod Times reports that the critical meeting, held at the council secretariat in Owode-Egba, follows the Chairman’s recent participation in the high-profile International Friendship Partners Conference held in Jiangxi Province, China.
Expanding the Industrial Footprint
While welcoming the prospective foreign partners, Amb. Ogunsola commended the delegation for identifying Obafemi Owode Local Government as their preferred investment hub. He noted that the proposed establishment of the manufacturing facility represents a substantial opportunity to expand the council’s industrial base, stimulate local commerce, and generate direct and indirect jobs for the youth and professionals in the community.
“Our local government area is highly receptive to private sector initiatives that directly impact our people,” Ogunsola stated during the session. He encouraged the foreign investors to prioritize the recruitment of indigenes and local talent once operational structures take off.
Alignment with the State’s Economic Blueprint
The local government boss emphasized that his administration’s investment drive mirrors the overarching “Building Our Future Together” agenda of the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON.
He reassured the Chinese business group that the state and local governments have set up robust frameworks to guarantee the security of lives, property, and corporate assets, which remains vital to sustaining a friendly business climate and ensuring the ease of doing business.
The delegation of investors expressed strong confidence in the economic potential of Obafemi Owode Local Government, citing its strategic geographic positioning and the proactive governance framework of the current council leadership as major factors behind their investment choice. Final evaluations on the specific site acquisition and community engagement pipelines are expected to proceed immediately.
