ABEOKUTA, NIGERIA — The Ogun State Government has officially launched a decisive enforcement campaign to demolish all illegal structures built on land belonging to Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) in Abeokuta.
The joint enforcement operation, spearheaded by the Ministry of Physical Planning & Urban Development alongside the Bureau of Lands and Survey, takes immediate effect.
Surveillance Exposes Massive Encroachment
According to a formal statement from the institution’s Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Mr. Yemi Ajibola, the direct action was triggered by the findings of a rigorous surveillance exercise. The state’s investigation uncovered widespread illegal development and systemic land encroachment deeply penetrating the polytechnic’s legally allocated property boundaries.
The targeted demolition zones stretch across multiple border communities, including:
- Agbena
- Olorunsogo
- Opako (extending well across the bridge and its surrounding environments)
State Directs Affected Residents to Maintain Order
As heavy machinery moves into the affected perimeters, the state government has issued a strong directive advising host communities, property owners, and residents to remain calm and strictly law-abiding.
To prevent civil unrest and counter any potential resistance from illegal developers, the government confirmed that heavy security deployments have been strategically stationed across the execution sites to guarantee absolute law and order throughout the clearing exercise
