Global Expansion: JAMB to Open New UTME Center in Canada by 2027

OTTAWA, Canada — The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced groundbreaking plans to establish a brand-new Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) center in Ottawa, Canada, set to begin operations in 2027.

Tripod Times reports that the monumental shift aims to accommodate the growing number of Nigerians residing abroad, offering them seamless access to domestic tertiary admissions.

Bringing the Exam Closer to Home

Following a diplomatic visit by its leadership to the Nigerian High Commission in Ottawa, JAMB noted that the North American hub will ease the financial and logistical strain of cross-continental travel for candidates. The center allows eligible individuals in North America to participate in the UTME conveniently.

A Modern Bridge for the Diaspora

This initiative marks a key step in expanding the global footprint of Nigeria’s educational framework and maintaining academic ties with diaspora youth. The 2027 rollout offers a streamlined pathway for North American students aiming for enrollment in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
