Transport fares remain high in several states despite President Bola Tinubu’s directive for fares to begin falling from October 1 through the use of CNG-powered buses.
Commuters in some states are still paying the same fares, while others are paying even more.
The Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on CNG and Electric Vehicles, Ismaeel Ahmed, said some states had already started reducing fares.
He explained that October 1 was not a deadline for all states to cut fares at the same time. He said it was the date the Federal Government began monitoring the rollout of the CNG transport initiative.
