Fani-Kayode Challenges US Firm to Provide Evidence of Tinubu’s Alleged Drug Ties

ABUJA — Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has issued a stern challenge to a United States-based firm, demanding the immediate release of any concrete evidence linking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to alleged drug trafficking.

Tripod Times reports that the staunch APC chieftain and defender of the presidency took to social media and official press channels to dismiss the recurring allegations as baseless political blackmail. He dared the foreign entity to make its purported findings public or cease what he termed a coordinated smear campaign.

The controversy stems from renewed online publications referencing decades-old legal filings in the United States. While political detractors have frequently used these documents to question the President’s past, the presidency and its legal teams have consistently maintained that President Tinubu was never convicted of any drug-related crime.

Reacting to the latest claims, Fani-Kayode stated that the burden of proof rests entirely on the accusers. He argued that Nigeria’s democracy cannot be held hostage by unverified foreign reports designed to undermine the current administration’s authority.

“If this American firm possesses any indisputable facts or certified court judgments proving these wild claims, let them present them to the world,” Fani-Kayode said. “Otherwise, they should remain silent and stop acting as tools for disgruntled opposition figures.”

Legal experts note that while foreign investigative reports often stir domestic political debates, they hold no legal weight in Nigeria without formal judicial verification and cross-border law enforcement cooperation.

As of press time, the targeted US firm has not issued a formal response to the challenge.

The presidency has similarly reiterated that it will not be distracted from its economic reform agenda by recycled allegations.
