Investment Magnet: How Abiodun’s Style Is Reshaping Ogun’s Economy – Akinmade
ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE — Governor Dapo Abiodun’s deliberate approach to governance and political maturity has been credited as the major engine driving massive private sector investment and urban transformation across Ogun State.
Making this assertion during a media briefing in Abeokuta, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, disclosed that the state has successfully solidified its position as one of Nigeria’s leading investment destinations.
Tripod Times reports that Akinmade tied this economic boom directly to the administration’s focus on peace, predictability, and a business-friendly environment.
“Politics Without Acrimony” Boosts Investor Confidence
According to Akinmade, one of Governor Abiodun’s most significant assets is his unique approach to regional politics. By maintaining absolute focus on development rather than political distractions, the administration has fostered an atmosphere of stability that appeals to multinational corporations. “Governor Abiodun plays politics without acrimony,” Akinmade stated.
“He understands that political differences should not be allowed to destroy relationships, communities, or the larger society. His approach is anchored on political maturity, restraint, and a commitment to the larger interest of Ogun State.”
Akinmade noted that investors require structural predictability and security to operate with absolute confidence, conditions which the current government has actively engineered across the state’s corridors of commerce.
Strategic Projects Spanning Three Senatorial Districts
The government’s developmental footprint is deliberately spread across all three senatorial districts to prevent congested growth and ensure localized economic expansion.
Akinmade pointed to several milestone, capital-intensive infrastructure projects that have redefined the state’s landscape, including:
The Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport: Positioned as a major economic asset for logistics, export value-chains, and aviation employment.
Massive Housing Schemes:
Inclusive of the 108-unit Muhammadu Buhari Estate and affordable urban developments stretching from Idi-Aba to Sagamu and Iperu.
Critical Energy & Infrastructure Footprints:
The execution of the Onijanganjangan Power Project, the rejuvenation of the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, and aggressive cross-zonal road network construction.
Human Capital Developments:
Sustained investments in the Gateway Medical Centre of Excellence, deep technological funding via the Ogun TechHub, and expansive agricultural support grants.
Changing the State’s Trajectory
Akinmade further highlighted that Abiodun’s administration has prudently managed public resources by taking the unconventional step of completing critical projects left abandoned by previous governments, ensuring public funds do not go to waste.
“A trailblazer does not merely occupy office; he changes the trajectory of the place he leads,” Akinmade concluded.
“Governor Dapo Abiodun has changed the way Ogun sees itself and the way others perceive the state. That remains one of the most enduring marks of his leadership.”
